Permits for buildings and additions should include two complete sets of plans; health department approval or sewer impact receipt; plot plan showing the location of the structure, or of the addition in relation to the structure, to include distance to lot line and all drainage and utility easements; and a Jefferson County Stormwater or ADEM approval for land disturbing activities.

Permits for signs, accessory structures, fences, pools should include two sets of plans and a site plan showing the location of the structure in relation to the lot line(s), easements, and sanitary field lines, if applicable.

Persons permitting electrical, plumbing, gas, or heating and air work must hold proper certifications.
